Welcome to the first week of the Mandala Free-motion Challenge Quilting Along. I am so looking forward to quilting along with you through this video series. If you are nervous, don’t be! I will be with you each step of the way. In this first video, we are quilting the center of our mandala panel. Not only will you learn different design ideas, I’ll also share tips on echoing, stitching in the seams as well as how to work your way through the area as efficiently as possible.

Welcome to the second week of the Mandala Free-motion Challenge Quilting Along! In this challenge, we are building off the previous week’s quilting and moving to the next “ring” of our mandala panels. Not only will be see how to use designs in different types of areas, we are also sampling several different quilting designs. From wishbones to ribbon candy to feathers, this weeks challenge is going to be a lot of fun!

As we move on through the Mandala Free-Motion Challenge Quilting Along, I hope that you are proud of all the quilting we have accomplished so far! This week, we are learning how to deal with irregularly shaped areas, moving from section to section, as well as how to combine designs for different effects!

In the next part of the Mandala Free-motion Challenge Quilting Along, we are moving onto the purple section of the panel. We are not only going to see how to create motifs that wrap around the purple elements of the panel, we’ll also learn how to use echoing to highlight different sides of the area.

This week we are finishing up the panel by addressing the teal ring as well as the remaining background. Not only are we learning how to deal with larger background areas, we are going to experiment with echoing (yet again!) as well as learn design ideas for the last teal shapes of our mandala panel!

Every good thing must come to an end and this week we are finishing up the Mandala Free-motion Challenge Quilting Along by looking to the outside of our quilt…the borders. In this video, we are going to learn a couple different options for quilting the borders of our Mandala panel.
