Dot to Dot Free-motion Challenge Quilting Along

Welcome to week 2 of the Dot to Dot Free-motion Challenge Quilting Along video series. Last week, we learned two designs that make up the Dot to Dot technique. In this week’s challenge, we are going to focus on the Diamond Design by learning several different design variations. I am almost giddy with excitement to share all the ways you can use this design. For now, I’ll share several variations that can be used in all sorts of quilt blocks as well as practical tips on how to use these designs on your quilts. Later on in the challenge, we will really dive into how to use it on other parts of your quilts. Let’s get started!

In this video, we are focusing on the Starburst design and learning how to use it in several different ways on our quilts. My hope is that you won’t find these designs to be overwhelming. You don’t have to learn them all! Instead, think of them as my persuasive argument to make you love them as much as I do.

Now that we have learned several different variations of the Starburst and Diamond designs, we are going to combine the two to create even more design options. Not only do the designs look stunning and intricate, they can alos help make quilting larger blocks more manageable. Then, I’ll share practical tips for using Dot to Dot designs in fill in irregularly-shaped areas on your quilts. By the time we’re done, you’ll know how to use the Dot to Dot technique in all areas of your quilts!

In this week’s video, we are finishing up the quilting on the exclusive Dot to Dot quilt panel I designed just for this free video series. I’ll share two different options for quilting the center. One design highlights the center of the panel, while the other shows off the outer points. Then we’ll move the background area where I’ll share design tips as we finish up our gorgeous Dot to Dot panel.
