Quilting Is My Therapy Preview Party
Oh my gosh…..time flies when you are running around like a crazy person trying to get everything finished in time. Last time I blogged, we were gearing up for the Preview Party….which happened a couple of weeks ago. Now, I can report that it was a smashing success!
There is nothing quite like throwing a party and hoping that people show up. Especially when it turned out that the Kansas City Royals had a play off game at the same time. Thankfully, people showed up! We were stunned by the turnout and the amazing people who stopped by to cheer us on.
The first 50 people received a swag bag full of goodies! (A huge thanks to the companies that donated prizes!!)
Once the doors opened, the fun really began! I got to see quilters that I have known forever as well as meet new quilting friends.
We even had some quilting celebrities drop by to show their support.
Tula Pink and Jenny Doan, from Missouri Star Quilt Company, both happened to drop by at the same time. It was so sweet of them both to take the time to visit. (On a side note, we are located just 45 minutes from Missouri Star Quilt Co….talk about having a good neighbor!)
I was excited to show everyone what Quilting Is My Therapy is all about since it’s going to serve many purposes. Besides housing my personal studio, we are a Handi Quilter dealer and a quilt shop.
Fabric, notions, machine quilting supplies and quilty gifts are all available for the quilting addicted.
Classes
In addition to the retail shop, my goal is to have the shop serve as an education center. I love traveling and teaching, but to be able to host classes and retreats in my own shop is a dream come true! From basic piecing classes to machine quilting classes, from large retreats to private lessons…..we hope to appeal to quilters of all kinds!
Here are a few of the classes that are going on this month:
If you don’t see a class that you like, contact us with your suggestion or, even better, book a private lesson! I know that most of you reading this don’t live in the Liberty/Kansas City area, but if you do or know someone who does, I hope you will consider joining us for a class. Visit the online shop to register for classes.
A Sale and A Giveaway!
If you weren’t able to make it to the preview party, we are still celebrating on our online store. Any orders over $25 will get a free Quilting Is My Therapy tote bag (No code needed) and free domestic shipping on orders over $50.
We are also celebrating with a giveaway! I saved a goody swag from the party to give to a lucky winner. Just leave a comment on this post telling me what your dream quilting class would be about. I will pick a lucky winner on Friday!
Here’s hoping that your quilting dreams come as true as mine have, Happy Quilting!
Found your hours.
Lovely website. Too bad I live in Arkansas. One suggestion, my daughter lives in Texas, I am visiting in Kearney. She has asked me to stop and do a bit of shopping for her. I have not found your hours on your website.
How fun – wish I lived closer. Good luck.
Too cute!!! I would love to learn to Free Motion Quilt!!! <3
Fmq on a small home machine.
My dream class would definitely be to learn all about Quilting the quilt! FMQ on my home machine… (I am such a chicken…lol)
“Diving into FMQ… just do it!”
Dream class….a class full of the “little” tips and tricks that make machine quilting on a domestic short- or mid-arm machine go smoothly.
These topics are so connusifg but this helped me get the job done.
Have you given any thought at all with translating your main website in to French? I know a small number of translaters right here that would certainly help you do it for free if you wanna contact me.
My dream class would be on longarm quilting with mostly feathers and swirls
Mine would be learning to use a long arm……that I actually owned and had room for in my house!
Congratulations! My dream class would cover my mind blank whenever I look at a quilt and have absolutely no idea how to quilt it.
Quilting negative space!
My dream class is to learn how to use rulers and pantographs!
and Ika got married July 3rd, 2011. I shared some of their engagement pictures earlier (Ike & Uka) and I was excited to shoot their wedding because they have such great personalities. They are in
My dream class would be one on backgrounds and fillers using a longarm. We don’t have many long arm classes in my city.
Congrats on the successful opening and on the shop! It looks like a great little shop!
My dream class would be how to build bundles from my stash. As a fairly new quilter I find that I err towards using pre-cuts and curated bundles rather than building my own from my stash. I don’t know where to begin!
I would love a class on how to choose the right pattern for your fabric. I am always afraid to cut into my favorite fabrics, because I really want the fabric to shine, not be unrecognizable.
I could always use more binding lessons, too!
I would like to see more classes on machine quilting techniques.
Any quilting class with you would be a dream – your work is amazing!!! Thanks for the chance to win the goodies.
Beginners class would be good for me! Terrible at free miotion quilting.
I really need a one on one class on making minis! I’ve seen my whole life but minis throw me for a loop! I want to know all the tricks to make a mini! Thank you
Sue Lambrix
Napa, Ca
My dream quilting class would be one-on-one with YOU and some wine and chocolate (ok that came out sounding rather pornographic, lol)…oh and as for the quilting, it would be feathers and paisleys and paisley feathers and lots of swirls, especially those with the hook that you do so easily…maybe then I’d actually get them down pat! Congrats on this next stage of your journey Angela! 🙂
My dream class – be challenged and be successful. Something colorful, fun and finished.
I would like to see a class that would teach quilters to not be so fearful! Fearful of cutting their Angela Walters, Tula Pink and Kaffe’s fabric!!!! Fearful of picking the right batting, backing and quilting motif!!! Take the fear out of the shears!!! Thanks Angela!!!!
Wish I would have been there. It looks like so much fun. I generally take a class because I like the quilt and I want to learn the techniques it uses. My dream class would probably be a handson longarm FMQ, rulers and planning the quilting. I know I can get that with on line classes but I’d love the face to face interaction . Thanks.
Probably something about how to adapt quilting designs into different blocks and borders.
This sounds dumb but I’d love a better basting class. It is hands down my least favorite part of quilting and help making it less painful would be welcome. Also a more modern hand quilting class. I have been looking all over for one that uses perle cotton but I can’t find anything.
I think classes at different levels (beginner, intermediate, advanced) would be awesome so that people of all levels can feel comfortable and learn something new. How fun to have your own studio and shop. It looks great!!!
I’d love to take a class learning to sew a double wedding ring quilt. Thanks for such a fun an generous giveaway!
Congratulations on your new adventure….hope it’s as successful as your quilting business! Wish I was closer as well. My dream class would be one that shows how to load a quilt on a long-arm frame, then choose the designs to quilt on it.
I am a beginner so would love to take an introduction to quilting class teaching basic techniques. Congratulations and every success with your new venture x
My dream quilting class would be with someone that really thinks outside the box to help me with a quilt top my grandmother made in the 1950’s. I really don’t like it, but it is the only thing I have of hers. I’d like to restyle it somehow to make it more modern and pretty. Then, of course, my famous friend would help me quilt and bind it!
My dream class would be about taking very traditional blocks and putting a modern spin on them. What is old is new again!!!!
Congratulations!! My dream class would be about choosing harmonious colors for quilts! Many thanks!
My dream class would be a longarm hands-on class in your new studio on fills to use on quilts! I guess that means my dream class would include a vacation – you are almost 800 miles away.
Your new place is beautiful-enjoy!
Wish i lived closer to take your in store classes! I need to work on how to relax while i machine quilt so i don’t hurt all the next day class! I really love machine quilting but it hurts to do very often.
My dream class would be a class you would teach on learning to quilt on a Sweet 16!
My dream class would last a week and help me finish up some WIPs!
I so wish I lived near you…..its too far to travel from the UK for classes!
Dream class would be how to learn to enjoy the machine quilting process as much as the piecing part!
My dream would be to take absolutely ANY class with you. I have bought all your classes on Craftsy – i am in South Africa!!!!! How I would love to win your goodie bag and am prepared to pay for the shipping. You are my hero and I wish you the best of luck in your new venture.
My dream class would be any technique that you are teaching. You make it so easy to understand
My dream class would include a little bit of everything! FMQ, ruler work, what to do when you have a creative block, tension troubles, dot to dot quilting and the list goes on & on. This would be a full day of quilting fun!
Wish I was closer to your store! I’d love any class that would help me learn FMQ on my small machine!
Wow! Looked like lots of fun. I am struggling with basic free motion quilting, so a beginner class would suit me.
My dream classwould be about quilting beautiful freeform feathers to fill a large space. Congrqatulations on the grand opening!
I would like to bring several of my quilt tops and have you look them over and give me quilting suggestions and then watch me quilt on one of them and give me tips for improvement. Wouldn’t that be nice?
I would just love a coule of hours of one on one time in front of the LongArm with you Angela!
(SewHappy for you, the shop looks great! Wishing you continued success !)
My dream quilting class would be a sit down long arm class, emphasizing how to use rulers and other long arm tools while moving the quilt instead of the machine, as with a traditional long arm machine.
Living in the Uk and not being able to travel my Dream class would be to be able to fly out and come to a retreat learn all the skills to be able to quilt, as good as you, or should I Say” Close enough is good Enough.” It would majic to be in your lovely shop and just takes in all Quilt therapy you teach . Jan Wales Uk
My dream class would be something to help me feel confident enough to just jump right in to quilt instead of being afraid to ruin my quilt. So happy for you and your shop. Wish it was close enough to come see.
My dream quilting class would be a one-on-one longarm class with you to learn many different designs (both fill-in and edge-to-edge) to increase my repertoire.
A dream class would help me learn FMQ. My skills are lacking. What a great picture. My favorite people Tula and Jenny. Good luck with the shop. Maybe I will get there one day.
Any class with you would be awesome!! Hands on longarm class would be my dream class. Shop looks great, hope to make it there sometime.
Your studio looks great. I hope to go on a road trip one day and visit.
My dream quilting class would be a one-on-one on how to quilt one of my own quilts.
I would just love to try a long arm machine! I’ve so far only used my home machine.
Congratulations, the store looks amazing! My dream quilting class would include tips, tricks and techniques to help longarmers square up backing and batting, keep a quilt squared up on the frame, and other basics.
A class to help with using rulers efficiently and precisely.
Happy Grand Opening – The store looks terrific and I do wish I were close enough to visit. (West Coast here). My dream class would be a one on one to discuss how to hear the quilt talk to me and let me know how to quilt it. Thank you and Congratulations.
I hope to visit you on one of my trips to see my daughter in Shawnee, I’m in Wichita area. I would love a hands on class to learn machine quilting on my domestic machine.
I wish I lived near to your shop. I’m in CA. I would love to take a class on quilting one of my Improve quilt five different ways, and to quilt it. I would come with a series of quilts.
Congratulations on the Grand Opening of your store. May it bring you and your family every thing you dream of!
You’re shop looks awesome. Congratulations on your big grand opening, Only wish I lived closer and was able to come and visit. My dream class would be lessons on long arm quilting and the ability to rent time to finish my Tetris quilt which is too big for my machine. I finished the top and made pillow shams to match but might end up quilting it by hand unless I figure something else out. See a picture at: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10204871661330915&set=a.10204340474371573.1073741883.1221002061&type=3&theater
Next, I’m designing a quilt for your Drawn – water fabrics. Can’t wait to start sewing it.
Congratulations on your opening. Love to learn how you come to select quilting patterns…in each area of quilt. Breaking down the spaces…one quilt 5 ways sort of thing.
My dream class would be about how to fit feathers into weird shapes. I can do feathers in borders, but getting them to fill other shapes is still a challenge.
My dream class would be one that would give me confidence. Confidence in color choice, piecing and quilting. I love your philosophy that finished is better than perfect and to internalize that would be a gift. Congratulations on the shop!
My dream class…how to use a long arm… I do all my quilting on my domestic machine and if I was taking that class that could only mean I finally got a long arm!!!
Can’t wait to see your store. Congratulations! My dream class would really be a retreat with no responsibilities other than time for quilting.
My dream class would involve learning how to transition quilt designs into a cohesive pattern!
I would love to have a class to learn how to pick out fabrics for a quilt by actually doing several examples. I need all the help I can get. 🙂 Congrats on your beautiful new store.
I really want to learn some quilting techniques I can do on my regular machine! The shop looks beautiful- congrats!
My dream class? Anything taught by you! Love your craftsy classes, and my dream is to attend one of your classes in person.
I am so happy for you, Angela. My dream class would be learning to FMQ on my domestic. Your books and tutorials are very helpful but meeting you in person would be a dream come true. Than you for helping new quilters just as much as advanced quilters.
Congratulations on your store. My dream class would be to learn the techniques one on one. I love to interact in a larger class with everyone’s ideas, but it would be so awesome with you as a coach, to help improve my skills. Thanks, Ellie
Congrats on your accomplishments. I would like a long arm class to utilize the long arm I purchased at quilt festival.
Congrats on the opening of your store-I can’t wait to visit! My dream class would to have the whole day to learn your techniques with you there to help adjust my technique when needed:)
Hmmm, my dream class would be an open sewing session with all my quilt crushes…especially the ones pictured here! It would be so fun to just chat and share what we are working on.
I’m so excited for you! I want to take any class with you, but especially something related to long arming (which I don’t have yet). Congrats!
Congratulations!! Your shop looks wonderful and it must all be so exciting! My dream quilting class would probably be one on feathers.
Good luck to you with this new venture. Love your fabric line!!
Betsey
I need a class on the Mariner’s Compass.
I would love a fmq class on my sweet 16. Enjoyed your lecture at quilt con!
I would absolutely love a longarm lesson.
I would like to take a class on appliqué work! Congratulations on your new store!
Congratulations! My dream class would include creating a new Tula Pink designed quilt w/Tula teaching and then working with you to create the quilting design. I was lucky to have taken 3 classes last year at MQX Midwest with you (even before I purchased my long arm) and then I got to have Tula as an teacher this year at a Sewplazoza event!
I would love for you to make me not afraid of FMQ on my domestic machine. I can’t get over every stitch not being perfect!
Congrats!! Would love to learn how to use the quick curve ruler!
congrats on your new adventure!! I’d like a class on all the tips other quilters seem to know but I don’t (of course, the problem is I probably know some others don’t).
Congratulations on your new store! I would love to take a ruler work class. You are such an inspiration!
My dream quilting class? Hard to decide, but probably anything by Angela Walters. I have taken all your Craftsy classes, and in June I was lucky enough to get into a lecture/demo class with you at HandiQuilter Academy in Layton, Utah. You are a great teacher. You sound so confident and make it all look so easy! Wish I lived closer so I could run over and take a class whenever I wanted. I’m happy for you that your quilting dream has come true.
My favorite class would be a 3 day workshop with enough time to get some real practice in under your watchful eye since I would be traveling from Oregon. Soaking up as much information as possible as well as visiting the sights nearby. And I would have to travel to Springfield to visit family there too.
I would love classes on FMQ. I’ve recently purchased a Bernina Q20 and want to learn FMQ and ruler work. Just bought some of craftsy classes this week. So happy to hear you have a shop! I’m on my way Missouri Star tommorrow for the Kaffe retreat. I think I’ll have time to stop by your shop on Saturday before flying home!!!
My dream class would be a class that could teach scared me how to quilt the layers.
So nice to see that your dreams are coming to pass…my dream quilting class would be to simply attend any class you may be instructing! Your work is refreshing, modern, and nontradional, love it!
Congratulations!!! Hope one day I can fly across the pond and have a visit. My dream class would be FMQ,
I guess you can call me a late bloomer. I just retired, and at 66, I have found a love and passion for quilting. At my age, I can’t justify purchasing a long arm machine, let alone the cost to expand my house to accommodate the size of the unit. My dream class would be learning how to accomplish great designs on my domestic machine, including how to work with rulers. On a side note, I sure would like to take a road trip to visit your shop. It is a long way from Washington, but maybe sometime? I know your shop will be a huge success and bring joy to many people. I hope to be one of them.
Congratulations, Angela! It looks like it’s going to be a raging success! I would love some one-on-one longarm lessons. I just bought a Handiquilter and I’m (delightfully) terrible at it :). Would love to learn from you.
My dream class would be free motion fillers. I have pulled off two free motion quilts that turned out wonderful, but I tend to stay in my comfort zone instead of attempting free motion stuff. I have a computer (Intelliquilter) on my machine. I have now seen my potential with free motion, but it scares me to death, so I return to the computer. I really want to gain confidence in free motion.
Congratulations on your grand opening! My dream class would be any free motion quilting class! 🙂
My dream class would be anything about designing fabric. Thanks for the chance to win!
It would be a dream to take any of your classes ❤️
First of all I love what I can see of your shop. Congratulations! Now onto the nitty gritty… Well, actually it’s rather simple. I’d love any class on a longarm or just the chance to use one. The other option for a class would be to FMQ on my domestic machine and to learn what needles I should be using for different threads and whatnot.
I wish you much luck in this new shop! And good luck to everyone entering this sweet giveaway.
Congratulations on your new store! Looks like a fun time was had by all. I hope someday to make it out to Missouri and see your store and maybe take a quilting class on how to quilt both small and large areas.
Thank you!
My dream class would be a a modern, improve piercing class.
Hi there Angela,
Hey! Congrats on your new store! It looks awesome and I wish I lived near by to be able to take some of your classes.
My wish-list course would be learning how to ruler quilt on my home machine. I have an older Pfaff and can’t seem to find the specific foot for ruler quilting…can you help?
Thanks!
Quilty Huggs,
Jacqueline
Your classes all look dreamy!!
I have always wanted to learn to make perfect feathers!
I had the pleasure of meeting you at quilt market last week where you showed us your beautiful new quilts! My dream quilt class would be a private longarm class with you! Your quilting is amazing!!
My dream quilting class would simplify how to envision how the quilt should be quilted (the design(s).
I’d love any class. I can always learn something. I have a long way to go.
I would love to take a class where the long-arm quilter explains out loud about how they make decisions throughout the process as they are doing it. Why did you pick the overall design you did? How are you choosing to move around the quilt as you go? Where are you making “mistakes” and how are you choosing to fix as they happen?
I agree with Janice above that taking any of your classes would be a dream. But what I really need is a hands-on class “Building Confidence on the Longarm” I have an HQ Avante that I am a little scared of. 😉
A class that will manage to free me up enough to be able to make those modern improv type blocks. I just can’t seem to do that.
Congrats on your opening. I love the pic where everyone is lined up to get in. Liberty looks like a pretty town. I’d be in that line if I lived there!
My dream class would involve a tutorial on conquering sewing curves, enhanced by a chocolate tasting event. I’m sure the application of copious amounts of chocolate would help my piecing skills!
Any class by you, but designing a quilt from concept to completely finished.
I’d love to learn more about quilting that emphasizes shapes in the piecing (as opposed to edge-to-edge designs).
Any class that you teach, Angela, would be my dream to attend!
Oh I’d love class where we play with all kinds of different threads and learn how to get the effect we want from bold shiny threads, fine threads, and how to use color thread without it looking too bold and taking away from the quilt.
Taking any of your classes would be a dream!
Congratulations Angela! I’m sure you’ll be a smashing success!
Hmmm my dream class would be to have you simply transfer your knowledge into my brain, LOL
Seriously it would be entail plenty of time to practice the techniques you teach in a small class venue, say 4 students.
So sad I love in AZ so no hope of making your opening day events.
Roslyn
I would love a class on finishing a quilt. Quilting the Tops with free-motion quilting, perfect binding from beginning to end, and labeling. This continue to be my areas of need.
What a beautiful shop, congratulations on your successful opening. I’ll be looking forward to more information on the retreat opportunities as I am in Virginia.
I would like a refresher color class. I tend to use very predictable / matching color combinations and then I see what colors other people put together that I would never think of doing and they look great. Free motion quilting on a domestic machine is also something I am just starting and could use tips of what has worked for other people. Thanks for the chance of winning.
Any of your class would be great to be in. I have all your classes from craftsy have learned a lot from them and several of your books. But a dream class for my would be a one on one class! Thanks for a great giveaway, and for being such a wonderful person!
I would.love a class to improve my longarming skills!
Dream class, huh? Hmm…I think maybe a really amazing and modern project that uses some advanced features of a sewing machine. I took my sewing machine class when I bought my machine, but we went over so many things and just did samples. I think it would be cool to learn those techniques in a modern application so you might remember and appreciate them! Your store sounds amazing!!
Congratulations!!! And to have tula and Jenny come in support- wish I lived closer!! And great neighbor to have. Best wishes!!!!!!
Oh I’d love to see a long arm class and domestic for fmq in person (love your Craftsy classes but in person 🙂 ).
Congrats on a successful launch! I’d love to take a class on translating inspiration to reality, both in piecing design and quilting.
I’d love any longarm class tips and techniques! Or even for use as either fmq or longarm!
I’d love a 1 to 1 day with you.
I’d love to learn tricks on how to start and stop without having to bury knots. Our learning how to plan the various quilting designs without stopping.
I would love just about any class but I’m a little stuck at getting going with my upgdraded (customized) table top HQ frame and Juki 2010q. Need a little training before learning a bunch of bad habits. Congrats on the successful opening of your shop. I can’t imagine your excitement! !!!’ YEAH
I’d love a class on modern free-motion quilting! I love seeing all of the creative ideas!
My dream quilting class would be learning how to decide what pattern to use on my quilt.
My dream quilting class would be about infusing beautifully colored thread all over a beautiful quilt that complements it perfectly.
I would love to take a dot to dot quilting class from you for a domestic machine.
What an awesome chance to win a swag bag! Thanks for the chance & congrats on the opening of your storefront!
All of the above??? Need free motion coaching, DSM ruler lessons, and a jolt to the old brain to see the possibilities of blank spaces. Congrats on your new store. You will do well.
I still have so much to learn! I would definitely say a beginner’s fmq class for me and/or a class on how to choose a quilting design to go with your quilt.
My dream class is a free motion class with you!! Ever since seeing your lecture at quiltcon I’ve wanted to take a class with you. I love that you let the quilt speak to you, and don’t put typical traditional fmq designs everywhere. And i, like you, love to quilt the hell out of a quilt 🙂
The classes you’re already offering sound pretty great and i would totally take them if I lived there! Sadly, Seattle is a bit of a commute from KC.
My dream quilting class wouldbe for a home machine (not a long arm) and involve marking techniques, ergonomics, and how to practice. I find I can do just fine on a small practice swatch but when it comes time to quilt a whole quilt all that maneuvering makes it near Impossible to do smoothly and it’s so frustrating!
My dream class would involve a modern quilt pattern that you would give example of various ways it could be quilted. The class would be small, it would be 6 hrs, divided into two segments so that we would be able to work on our machines with blocks and see what our possibilities could be. I’m a slow learner and need to see visually and then work through it, so I do better in a controlled environments such as that. Thanks for asking
I have taken every class you have on Craftsy and really like and use them continually. But I still need to learn so much. I have a sit down TinLizzie, so anything using a sit down would be helpful. Although it really doesn’t matter what you use to teach, I always get a lot of info from you. Why don’t u give a lesson at your place as a giveaway. We would only have to get there on our own….it could be in a class setting or a private lesson. Wouldn’t that be THE BEST!!!!
Congratulations on your opening. There is also a great rug hooking store in Liberty not far at all from your store. Liberty will definitely be on my list of places to stop on my next trip!
I would love a class on designing fabric and then using it in an improvisational quilt. With all the technology today it could really happen!
Thanks for the chance to win a goody bag!
My dream quilting class would be to have you as the teacher. I’d bring a quilt and we’d discuss quilting it and then I’d sit there and quilt it with you providing guidance and encouragement as I quilted. I’d leave with more confidence and with a partially quilted top but one whee I would be anxious to go home and finish it. What a dream class that would be. I forgot to say we’d have iced tea, soup, and chocolate to provide calories and energy.
Classes on free motion quilting design – tips on breaking a quilt down to sections and selecting designs for the sections.
I’d be interested in a class on how to use rulers in quilting on domestic machines
Congrats on the shop excitement and support!
I would love to see a class on how to get started with the long arm machine. Soup to nuts, how do you get started if you have never done it before? I have been FMQing for about a year and understand the motions, but now that I want to get a long arm, I have no idea how to set things up on a frame, how to advance the quilt, where to start!
You are awesome!
My quilting dream class would actually to have a one-on-one session with you on both free motion and ruler work. I love your quilting style and would love to spend some time with you learning from you. Wish I lived closer!! Thanks for the opportunity to win.
Jennifer
Best wishes, Angela. Wish you much success with your new adventure!
Looks like a very successful opening! Congratulations on your newest venture! My dream class would be a one-on-one with you!
Congrats, I would love to have a quilting class taught by you on teaching us how to do large quilts on a sweet sixteen, from basting to quilting. thanks and love for all you do for the quilting peeps.!!!!!!!!!!!
Annette Parsons
Congratulations on your store opening, and I’ll have to make a trip down soon. My dream class with you would be on all the different ways to do feathers and when it’s best to use them or not.
My dream quilting class would be a private lesson! I love that you are going to offer them and am thinking the next time I visit (from San Diego) I’ll have to see if you are available. Wish I could have been there for the grand opening – looks like it was a great success!
Congratulations on a hugely successful opening. Previews of good things to come.
My dream class would be to learn how to design quilts using classic block patterns and change color palettes, fabric choices (especially large prints), quilt themes like modern, vintage, etc. and block size and placement. I think there is so much information available, but putting it together in a manner that is different from what we normally do is the challenge. Thanks so much.
Congratulations! My dream class would be learning how to use rulers with a sit-down model.
Congratulations on your new storefront! My dream class would be quilting ideas for vintage and reproduction type quilts that are fast and easy!
Congratulations Anglela and your family and friends ! Looking forward to visiting your shop, I love the gorgeous old brick walls. My dream class would last 5 days and you would teach me all kinds of your beautiful quilting design combinations. A girl can dream can’t she ?
Sure wish I lived in your area! My dream class would be about machine quilting, and would include some fun designs and ideas for how to know what to quilt. Thanks for the chance to win!
Congratulations your opening was a huge success and you had a lot of interesting people show up
I am currently interested in a hq sixteen so now I know where I can find one and get help with it Thanks Mary
Congratulations on the opening of your new store! It looks wonderful & I wish you were closer to my home, so I could easily visit. I have an HQ Sweet 16 now & am attempting to better my free motion skills by practicing on charity quilts for my quilt guild. I love watching your videos & would really like to take a class with you. My requested class would be on planning the design to fill the space & also working with feathers. Love your work!
Glad to hear your opening was such a success!! My dream class would have to be one with you, Jenny Doan and Cindy Needham – my most favorite rock stars all together!! WooHoo!!
Congratulations on your new shop! May you have a happy and successful career as a new shop owner. My dream quilting class would be to take a longarm class from you, Angela! I have loved your Craftsy classes, but would really like to take a class in person. That would be awesome!
Congrats on your new shop. I’m so happy for you.
I’d love another class on free motion quilting.
my dream class would be one on one with you, anything you wanted to teach me! i have an older handi quilter machine and am fairly good at the basics but i need to get to the next level!! i am so happy for your new shop and for you! congrats!!
I would love a class on the Pro-Stitcher. I am having a hard time learning this. I’ve had my Fusion with the Pro-Stitcher for almost a year now and still have no idea what I am doing.
I know that someday I have to step out of my comfort zone and do some kind of free motion quilting. I would love to visit your shop someday.
Congratulations!! I am so excited for you! One day I hope to get there to visit!! My dream class would be pretty much any class that was taught by you but if I must choose then it would have to be learning to do feathers!! Thanks!
My dream class would have to be on Free Arm Quilting, done on my own machine. It scares the bejezeses out of me. I would come armed with my 14 year old Janome and a bottle of Xanax for good measure. lol You must be thrilled with your new shop and the fact that the Royals won in the 12th. inning. Congratulations!!!!! I stayed up to watch, because I wanted to make sure they beat the Mets royally. You see, I was born in Chicago and still live in the burbs, and have never like those nasty Mets, so this Cubs fan is thrilled that the Royals brought the title to Missouri!
I’m so exited for you!! Wish I could be there but I will find a way to make a trip when I can.
CONGRATS!!
Congratulations on the grand opening! My dream class would be “Design encyclopedia” – a variety of FMQ design ideas to use for customers who don’t know what they want, and don’t want to pay for custom work!
Congratulations on your grand opening! Wish it was here in Arizona. Right now I’d love any of 3 classes, pixelated quilt, how to decide on a spin from well know quilts to a modern quilt, and painting with batiks.
Congratulations!! I would love to be able to get an overall design or maybe 2 when looking at a top – breaking it down into different shapes to create more interesting quilting designs.
Thanks for your great attitude – I have adopted your mantra “close enough is good enough”!! How liberating that has been!!!
Congratulations and best wishes. I’d love to take an individual class focusing on fmq a large quilt.
Wish I didn’t live so far away!! My dream class would be on spirals, feathers and curves! So glad the grand opening went well, the new space looks really wonderful!
I love everything Angela Walters! Your designs are beautiful. Since I couldn’t come for a visit, I would love to have a Swag Bag! I would like to learn how to quilt without getting so nervous and hung up. But it would be on my home machine, I have no place for a long arm machine. Please pick me! I forward all your emails to our longarmer with our quilt group. She also loves your designs. I hope I am the winner! Congratulations on the store opening and your continued successes.
This is fantastic. Congratulations on the opening!
A dream class would be to have a class with a quilting “sampler” so that I could truly visualize how the quilting would look.
I would love a class on “how to quilt around/on applique quilts”…..or feathers…lots and lots of feathers! Your books are my “go to” when I’m out of quilting ideas – love everything you do! Congratulations on your grand opening! Wish I lived closer…
Love your Craftsy classes! What to quilt and where to quilt it is my biggest challenge! Classes that teach that call my name. 🙂
Missouri is so far away. A summer trip is in order. I would love a class on foundation piecing that would not allow me to leave until I had mastered the technique. Congratulations on your newest venture!
Dream class would be a 1 on 1 with the How to Quilt It class.
I’ve taken several of your classes on Craftsy, and have learned a lot. I’d like even more on how to decide how to quilt a specific area – that’s the hardest part since I’m not creative!
My dream class would a little more than how would you quilt this. It would be a design class, to really decide what is the best quilting to bring out the quilt. With a lot of focus on secondary patterns and using negative space.
Would love to win. I recently had a class with Jacquie Gering and got to see some of your quilting up close. I have all of your books. My fav is the workbook.
My dream class would be a personalized version of How Do I Quilt It with design ideas for my unquilted tops! So happy you had a wonderful opening day and wishing you much success!
The How Do I Quilt it class looks great, but I think I need a where in the heck do I start class lol
I think the How Do I Quilt It class would be great!!
I’d love a class that looks at real quilts…like quilt tops of class participants and discusses options of how to design the quilting for these tops. sjvonfumetti at yahoo dot com
Wow, looks like it was a great opening party. Two dream classes for me: How to Quilt It (which you are already offering), and FEATHERS, both on a long arm.
I’d love a class on thread painting
Congrats on the opening! I’m positive you will see me regularly.
My dream class would be quilting one of my quilts on a longarm…with quilting ideas and guidance to complete the quilt while in class.
Congrats on your new facility – looks wonderful.
I’ve never tried a longarm machine – that would be a dream session for me!
I’d love to take a class to review and practice a lot of different designs for specific shape blocks like are shown in your book, especially if I could practice on the specific quilt.
My dream quilting class would be learning how to quilt to enhance the piecing but not overwhelm it. Congrats on your grand opening!
Your shop is beautiful! My dream class would involve feathers in various forms.
Can’t wait to see the shop. We’re doing a Jefferson City to Kansas City personal shop hop!
Congratulations on your new shop/studio!!! Exciting times ahead!!! I’ve only taken one class and that was to learn how to quilt 20+ years ago!!! I would love to take a course to make a Lollipop quilt… It is on my Quilting Bucket List!!
My dream class would be a one-on-one class to learn new long arm techniques that will make my quilting prize-worthy.
Congrats on your new shop and successful opening day!! I would love to hear about designing patterns…..or even have a private longarm lesson with you!!
My dream class would be a private lesson with you, completing one of my quilts. Someday I hope to get out to Missouri and visit all of you!
Wow! What a fabulous studio! I would love to learn to quilt beautiful swirls and feathers.
Congrats on your grand opening!!!! I would love to take a class on determining how to quilt my finished project!! That is always the hardest part for me. Thanks for the chance to win some awesome swag ;-)))))
Congrats on opening your lovely studio/ shop! One more reason for me to plan a roadtrip!
My dream class would include FMQ on my DSM with rulers!
Best of luck with your new venture!
I’d love a class about techniques for finishing the quilt–edgings, bindings, tips and techniques. And if it was in your studio–how great would that be!!!
My dream class: designing an original pattern and actually completing the project (yes, it would take many sessions!)
Love your new building. Wish I lived closer. My dream class would be about how to decide what to quilt. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Congratulations! I bet you wake up and pinch yourself daily to test to see if it’s real. I’d go for a class that taught the tips and tricks that you don’t know when you first start out.
I would love to take a free motion longarm class from you!
CONGRATULATIONS ANGELA AND THE WHOLE QIMT TEAM!!! WOOO HOOOOOOOO!!!! What a thrill! My dream class would be one with ideas of what to do WHILE quilting…. adding applique with a LA, adding bling, adding binding on the LA, what basic maintenance is needed, improvisational QAYG on the LA…. oh and the list goes on and on! SOOO excited. 🙂 Thanks ya’ll!
My ideal class would be
Creating a perfect Y seam.
I would love any class you teach but scollburst quilt would be so fun. Thanks for the chance to win.
I think it would be a day with just you and me,, I check you website daily and have most of your books, I love you style,, congratulations on the new digs.
I’d love to take a class on fast/easy quilts for beginners or those of us with very little time for “therapy”! Congrats and good luck with the store. If I ever travel to Missouri from PA I will definitely stop by.
I would just love to have a one on one class with you Angela. It could be on anything….just need to build my confidence!
My dream quilting class would be several days long…like a boot camp! Focusing on swirls and feathers.
Congratulations Angela achieving the next step in your dream! As a beginning long arm quilter, looking at your work is an inspiration to me. I enjoy free motion quilting and would love a class for beginners . Thanks for sharing your wonderful work with all of us and inspiring us to keep practicing!
Dream come true would to learn how to do ruler work just like YOU!! Taught by you!!!!! (In person) I’ve taken many of your Craftsy classes, but I think I need that one-on-one experience!!! YEP!! That’s my dream class!!
Congratulations! It looks like you had a fabulous turnout for your preview party. I’m excited that you are having classes and retreats — I live on the other side of the state but it’s definitely worth a trip for that! My ideal class would be quilting art quilts — those made from photographs specifically! Faces are so hard.
Best of luck on this new endeavor!
Ooh — I read other people’s comments — quilting with rulers on a domestic machine is even better!
I would like to take a free motion quilting class that teaches me how to combine various motifs. I see a lot of complex quilting, and when i look at the individual motifs, i realize i can do most of them (thanks to Angela’s craftsy classes & books) but i can’t quite figure out how to combine them. It looks so complicated but i know there must be a logical order to fit it all together.
My dream quilting class would be in your shop/studio, taught by you, and would include quilting with rulers on my dsm! Oh. and it would also be free to me. :o) Hey! You said my DREAM class!!!!
Congratulations! Look at all the quilter’s line up along the sidewalk! As a beginner FMQer, ANY FMQ class would be my dream class. I already have one of your crafty classes. Wouldn’t it be fun to take a class in person? Good luck with your continued success!
Congratulations to your brand new shop. My favorite quilting class will always be to have it face to face to you. I have taken all your classes at Craftsy and I have enjoyed them over and over again. But even if Craftsy is so good, there is nothing that can concur with the lesson in IRL. Pity that you are so far away from Sweden.
I’d love to know how to free motion quilt – also applique! Wish your shop was closer – will have to put it on my list when I travel.
Congratulations!! How exciting for you!! Your own shop and having an excuse to buy fabric– it’s for the shop. LOL Any class with you would be awesome. I don’t think I want to quilt my own quilts but maybe that is the class I need. Thank you for the giveaway. timewilltell63 at yahoo dot com
My dream quilting class would be about getting all the little things ( like having pointy points and nice bindings and labels) right every time. It seems like no matter how many quilts I make, there’s always room for wonkiness in one or more of these areas, even with lots of research and attention. Also a class on using fabrics of varying scale in a quilt top.
I’d love a hands on, private lesson with you!
A one-in-one class with you would be s dream come true! Congrats on opening your shop!
Oh how I ish I lived closer, but I have some of your books and have taken some of your Craftsy classes! Congratulations on your grand adventure with your store!
My idea class would be not so much a class as to have someone come into my studio and help me manage my stash….like “what was I thinking when I bought this?”, to “this would be a great focus fabric for such and such a quilt”. I think I have a lot in my stash that could be put to better use….
Congrats on the opening of of your new store and best wishes for lasting success. Wish I lived closer!
I would love to take another machine quilting class from you! It was inspiring when you taught both the Philly and NJ modern quilt guilds a few years ago. A nice retreat again with plenty of delicious food (non-fattening of course!), creative ideas and always full bobbins would be perfect. Congratulations on your new adventure!
Angela, I am so excited for you!!!! This is just incredible, your own shop!!! I need to make a trip out there some day and someday when I make it out there I want a private lesson from the quilting queen 😉
Oh wow…since I’ve never taken a quilting class, any topic would be terrific! I’m only about 1/2 hour away, so hope to see you there soon!
So excited for you and your family! I hope to drop by the shop soon! My dream class would be just a how to start like from the very beginning. -I don’t even sew very well!!- 😉
My dream class is a free motion quilting class on how to take an idea and actually quilt it! (I’m not sure that I am saying it right…)or taking what someone is saying they wanted quilted and how to figure out how to quilt it free motion style.
Congratulations on this new adventure! I love anything you do!
My dream would be any machine quilting class with you. You are my mentor.
My dream quilting class would be 1. basics of long arming (I don’t have one…yet!) and 2. advanced quilting techniques, OR accelerated versions of your other classes. I consider myself an advanced quilter on my domestic machine, and while I enjoyed your class I took at QuiltCon, I did find a lot of it really basic and wanted to spend a lot more time quilting and getting through stuff faster–then either a shorter class or more content!
Love the idea of a ‘how do I quilt it?’ class. I always worry i’ll detract from the top and would love to feel more confident about my quilting!
I think my dream class would be to learn how to load my Grace quilt frame and quilt on it with my home machine better!
Congratulations, Angela! I would like a class on piecing on the long arm frame!!
I am an east coast gal, but so excited for your new shop – it looks like a wonderful event! And of course, what a great name 🙂
I would like a class on miniature quilts and quilting.
I would love a class on embellishing a large quilt. Good luck with your lovely shop.
Your store looks like someplace I’d love to visit, though I doubtI ever will get to that area!
Dream class? I have a habit of getting to a certain place in piecing a quilt and somehow it doesn’t look how I pictured it and I get stuck! If there was a class to suggest ways of getting unstuck, I would love that. I have about 5 quilts in that state right now
Fabric dying or silk screen printing are near the top of my to-do class list
Your store looks like a great place to visit and shop. I’m excited about the possibility of retreats. My dream quilting class would help me stop spending so much time on the computer, get myself and all my stuff organized, and get me to sewing more! Really, I’d love a class showing more ways to quilt, especially traditional quilts. I’m in a rut!
I know your business is going to be such a hit! When I first got my Handiquilter I would have loved a class on loading the quilt, threading and cleaning the machine etc. Maybe also about different types of quilt loading options like red snappers.
Is love to see a class on curved piecing, or paper piecing. I’ve never tackled either.
Congrats!
Omg I’m sooooo excited your carrying Tula pink!!!!!! I can not wait to come in tom. Super happy to have a fabric store with name brands fabrics near me!!! Thank you thank you for opening!
Congrats on the new store! I’m new to seeing in general so I’d love to take any/all quilting classes!
Wish I lived closer. My dream class would be on how to use rulers while long arming.
Congrats on the opening! I’m jealous of the bag Simply Memorable made for you!!
I would love a quilting on my home machine class.
I would love a FMQ class using my machine as I just keep breaking thread and needles…oops 😉
So please the day was a huge success! Fancy having Tula and Jenny there to support you too. My ultimate class would be with you of course! Love the look of your new shop/studio.
Congratulations on your new store. I hope to visit one day. My dream would also be more on continuous line quilting.
I would love a class on “Modern” techniques of all kinds. i.e. Quilting, piecing, improv, etc
Congrats!! Wish you all the best!
My dream class would be about quilting on my home machine. Everyone would be prepared and knowledgable about their machine. We would have fun and learn something new. I like using my walking foot as well as FMQ. It would be nice to try different threads for different looks.
My “dream” quilting class would be to have you and some of your quilty friends talk about how you made the transition from hobby/addiction to a quilting business. And also anything on threads, needles, and tension as it relates to quilting.
Congratulations! I love your videos and books. Can’t wait to see your shop first hand. I’d love to see a class on free motion quilting combined with ruler work. I’m not a longarmer – fmq on my DSM – but your methods and ideas have been very translatable for me.
I would love a free motion quilting. Trying to learn to quilt now. Would a chance to win a bag to share with my MOM. She wants to learn long arm also. Hope I get a dream of winning a bag.
i am so happy for you and your family! What a difference a few years makes! A class would be beginning free motion quilting! I’d love one of your bags
congratulations! I would love a class in borders – narrow and wide. Thanks!
How to come up with quilting designs for quilting on your domestic sewing machine. And marking techniques as well.
Congratulations. It looks like it was a great time. I’d love a class on free motion quilting.
I would love a beginning free motion class.
Congratulations on your new adventure! Shop pictures look fabulous! SO excited for you! Hmmm My dream class … spending a few hours watching you quilt! yup that would do it for me!! You are a true inspiration to quilters of all ages! You Go Girl!
I love that you opened a shop in my town. Maybe a class on the various quilting techniques that make a quilt go together great– such as proper pressing, proper way to square up your blocks, measuring to quilt top for proper border sizing, minor sewing machine care,
I’d love a class with tips on custom/show quilting! Too bad I’m not near you. 🙂
Congratulations on your fantastic opening. My dream class would be feather with you. I have most of your books and watch your videos. I use many of your point to point designs and they are fast and easy. But I struggle with feathers. Thanks for the opportunity to win some swag.
I’d love to take a class on beginner longarm and midarm quilting. Thanks! So happy for you!
Congratulations on your successful open house! I’d love to take a long-arm class that would build my confidence to do more free-hand quilting and less using pantographs.
As long as you are asking about a ‘dream class’, I would love to go over each of the designs in all of your books. Yes, it would be a long class but I think I would catch on quicker if you were right there to show me where I was going wrong, why it doesn’t look the same on my quilt as in your books. You did as about the “dream”? Congratulations on achieving YOUR dream!
Any class would be a dream class!!
I too would like to learn about continuous line custom work!
Well, I already took three dream classes from you when you were in Maine. 🙂
Thanks for the chance on some swag!!! I would love a class on continuous line quilting on custom quilts. I love custom straight line and feather work, but am turned off by a backing with five or six back tracks over the same thread line. How do you plan out continuous lines with minimal back tracks?
I love to learn from your techniques on the long arm and a class to work on tackling a quilt would be fantastic!!
I’d love a feathers class! And how to make them fit the quilt’s style.
I would love to take one of your quilting classes.
I’d love to be able to attend any of your classes!! You’ve really helped me get over some quilters block by being my go-to book (Shape by Shape) when I need inspiration. So I’d love any free motion classes that you offer.
