Quilt Along With Me on a Custom Panel
We can’t have a quilt along without something to quilt, right? Instead of piecing, you can jump right to the quilting with a custom quilt panel I’ve designed exclusively for this challenge.
Featuring the quilt blocks in the challenge, this bright and happy panel measures approx. 45” x 55”, the perfect size for free-motion quilting practice.
You can purchase the panel by itself or as a kit which includes the panel as well as fabric for the backing and the binding.
I have to admit that I love the backing fabric as much as the front, because it’s not just any fabric. It’s designed by me and printed exclusively for this challenge by Paintbrush Studios. (This print is only available as part of the kit.)
I think you might find it’s the perfect print to inspire some beautiful quilting designs.

So….are you going to quilt along with me?
Just received my panel and threads and I am SO excited to get started on this!!! Thank you for everything you share, Angela. Would not know where to start if not for your fantastic videos. So very much appreciate all the work you put into making all these tips/hints and instructions.
🙂
Hi! I recently purchased the panel with backing & binding (and matching thread) and am excited to start my first quilting challenge. I misplaced the instructions about cutting the backing from the binding. Can the instructions that came with the kit be found online?
Even though I haven’t finished the challenge I did want to rave about the backing fabric. When I got mine, it was just to beautiful to use for a backing. I have used some of it for face masks and I can’t begin to tell you how many compliments they’ve received. I hope you will create more fabric prints like this. I am truly a fan.
Hey Angela, How come no one talks about quilting in a large circle? I am making a quilt with 12″ full moons, just wondering how to quilt them.
Laurie
Thank you so much for so generously sharing all your video tutorials. I have your book “Free Motion Quilting,” but it is so nice to watch you demonstrate them. I just finished 2 t-shirt quilts this year and tried lots of different designs in trying to improve and continue to learn to machine quilt—swirls, dot to dot, wavy lines, leaf meander, echoing, using rulers, back and forth, wishbones, etc. I have loved it! My first attempts were not always great, but I love your advice to finish and look at the whole design instead of every individual stitch. I have taken some classes at quilt shops which were good and got me started, but your encouragement and enthusiasm and teaching step by step has helped me so much. I just can’t say thank you enough again for sharing your wonderful talent with all of us!!!❤️
Have you talked at all about all the filler quilting, on the sashing, behind the star blocks etc,, I’m only on Week 3 and quilting the blocks, but I’m wondering about the filling!
Dear Angela,
I just found you as I am starting my quilting journey. I am trying the “Help how do I quilt it” but have to admit I have had to redo each block at least once.
I purchased your backing fabric for this project and absolutely cannot use as the backing, it’s way too beautiful and I’ll hold onto it until I can find a way to feature it.
I am eager to work on your other quilt alongs but it seams the fabrics are no longer available. I would love alternative suggestions.
Did I see somewhere you completing the Hydrangea Dream Big Flower Panel? I so want to work on that even though I’ll end up re-doing it a couple times.
I’m a Bluprint subscriber so I will be following you there as well as on your site.
I just wanted to let you know what an inspiration you are.
Dear Angela,
I just told my husband that You are my new best friend. I have just started quilting (and I am in love lol). I got a singer sewing machine in December of which I also love omg, the new technology). I am still creating my top layer and soon will be putting it all together and attempting free motion (I purchased rulers to help me thanks to your video. I am a member on Bluprint which is how I found you).
My question is when I do this part of quilting I haven’t heard about the color of thread details. Do I have to change it all the time to match my square? That seems a bit daunting and I sure would like to hear a video or explanation on this subject.
Thank you for your enthusiasm and for giving me confidence. I am very excited.
It’s December 13 and I’m seeing that the week 6 video is still unavailable. The live chat of that day is, and the quilting diagrams are, but no video.
You can find all the videos in the challenge on this page: https://quiltingismytherapy.com/free-quilt-patterns-and-tutorials/free-motion-challenge-quilting-along/how-do-i-quilt-it-free-motion-challenge-quilting-along/
Thanks for quilting along with me!
Thank you for all the good information and ideas and for your time. Happy Holidays
I’m getting a late start. I bought the kit with the top, backing and binding fabric and thread. What’s the most efficient and easiest way to cut and piece the backing for the quilt top for the “Help How Do I Quilt It” Challenge? I’m pretty new to quilting and I want to make sure I have enough fabric left for the binding and I don’t want to waste any of the fabulous backing-binding fabric!
Silly Nana! as my grandsons would say. I have answered my own question–I found the instructions for preparing the Quilt Sandwich. I was in such a hurry when I opened the package I layed the paper aside and didn’t even look at it! I have all the answers I need now! LOL!
I could see me doing that, LOL! I found the directions to be super clear which was great 🙂
I’m not receiving notifications anymore of Help How Do I Quilt It videos. Do I need to do something to have them continue? They are not in my Spam. Thank you!
Please tell me how to find the PDFs for this new free motion quilting challenge. Kit arrives tomorrow and I’m anxious to start!
There is only one pdf right now, they are released with the videos. Check out the Free-motion Challenge Quilting along page for more info: https://quiltingismytherapy.com/free-quilt-patterns-and-tutorials/free-motion-challenge-quilting-along/how-do-i-quilt-it-free-motion-challenge-quilting-along/
Did you find the PDF for the first block? I still can’t find it.
It is there the links are very confusing just keep taping till you find it. The web site needs to be simplified and better organized
I would definitely welcome your suggestions. With so much free content, organizing it is a little overwhelming. Especially when I handle the website AND making the Free-motion challenge quilting alongs.
I can’t find the download either. Help
Angela, I did not get your email today. It received an email last week that you would be live. Is there a link I need to sign up for this challenge?
I show that it was sent to this email….so you’re signed up. Maybe it’s in your spam box. Anyways, here’s a link to the email: https://mailchi.mp/ef972fc5a9f9/help-how-do-i-quilt-it-designs-for-nine-patch-and-plus-blocks Thanks for quilting along with me!
I watched the nine-patch video. It is great. However, I do not know where to find the PDF material?
I can’t find it either.
Here’s a link to the Free-motion Challenge Quilting Along page: https://quiltingismytherapy.com/free-quilt-patterns-and-tutorials/free-motion-challenge-quilting-along/how-do-i-quilt-it-free-motion-challenge-quilting-along/ It also has links to the PDFS
When I try to print the material only the images print, no text?
Sent you an email!
Just ordered my panel. Can’t wait to do this challenge!
What I love about your challenges is it you don’t have to carry all your machine and supplies to a class .You sit in your own sewing room and learn. You are your only judge. I can’t wait till we start.
Angela! I loved your kickoff!!! You made me laugh out loud several times and you have such a nice way of putting people at ease. Thank you for sharing your gifts, both as a teacher and a quilter, with us. Several of the questions people asked were in my mind as well. I got my kit today and can’t wait to get started. Thank you and have a great week!!
Thanks! I love connecting with people, and it’s so fun to be able to do it wherever I am!
How to I find the class on you tube and is it something that is always there to go back to. I just recd this email today so I couldn’t purchase the panel and thread
Yes it is! Here’s a link to the YouTube Playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLEhp5XdH4BaF5sotvMqCX-nx2eUrb0gEh
I’m in!! Can’t wait!
Woo Hoo! I’m ready!

I want to but the colors of this quilt for the boarders. Do you carry the colors that match? I love how soft it is to touch.
