There’s nothing quite like a gorgeous quilted feather — whether it’s a gorgeous motif or a beautiful filler design, feathers are definitely one of my all-time favorite designs! But learning how to quilt them can be a little daunting. But let me tell you, quilting feathers is easier than you might think!
First, we’ll cover the basics of quilting feather, then we’ll dive into versatile designs perfect for all areas of your quilts. Starting with designs for thinner borders and sashings, and then moving onto feather designs perfect for quilt blocks of all types. Then we’ll finish up by learning several different feather designs for background areas of your quilts.
When we’re finished, you’ll not only be more confident in your feather quilting skills, you’ll also have learned several feather designs that are perfect for your quilts. Whether you’re a free-motion quilting newbie looking to improve your skills or an established quilter looking for design inspiration, this video series is for you!

The exclusive quilt panel is due to ship mid-December for preorder. Stock is limited, so you’ll want to preorder early! (Bonus tip: sign up early so you get notified of any updates.)
It’s for you, whether you’re new to free-motion quilting or looking to sharpen your skills! So beginners are welcome, as are intermediate quilters wanting to expand their design vocabulary.
On the challenge page you fill out your Name + Email to register. Once you register, you’ll get details and links via email before and after the challenge begins.
Yes — free downloadable quilting diagrams for each of the videos will be provided. There will not be a pattern for recreating the wholecloth quilt as a pieced project.
This varies depending on your machine, thread, and sew many other factors! You can prep by ensuring you have your machine properly tensioned, using a good quality thread and stabilizing your quilt sandwich as you normally do for FMQ. Here’s a newer live chat on tension.
