Welcome to the first video tutorial in the Fillers Free-motion Challenge Quilting Along! We are kicking off the video series with this week’s tutorial about circle-shaped fillers. First, I’ll show you how to quilt Pebbles, a classic machine quilting design. Then we will build off of the shape to create several different variations.

In this week’s challenge, we are going to explore even more of my favorite free-motion filler designs. They range in shape from the pointy leafy design to the smooth arcs of the clamshells. With so many fun, versatile designs to work with this week, it will be difficult to pick a favorite. The good news is that you don’t have to! Try them all out and see if you can come up with your own variations for some of them.

In the last video in this Free-motion Challenge, we are going to use wavy lines to create filler designs that add movement to your quilts. From a basic wavy line to some fun variations of other fillers, these designs should help you get into the “flow” of quilting!
