A few months ago, my husband and I took a huge step in our business by purchasing a historic building situated on a historic town square in Liberty, Missouri. (Just a 45 minute drive from Missouri Star Quilt Company……you know, just in case you happen to be making a road trip)
The shop, Quilting Is My Therapy, will not only house my private studio, we will be selling fabric, notions, machine quilting supplies and HandiQuilter quilting machines as well. Believe me, I am more than a little excited about not working out of my house any more!
It’s been a crazy few months, with more than a few freak-outs on my end. The kids have played way too much on their iPads, while I learned way more than I wanted to about galvanized pipe, refurbishing radiators and the importance of priming before painting.
But even though I never thought it would happen, we are finally getting close to being finished. (And trust me, there are several times that I thought it would never get done!). Now it’s time to celebrate!
I would like to cordially invite you to our Preview Party this Saturday, October 17th from 2-4pm
(For more details, or to RSVP, check out the event page.)
This isn’t just a come-check-out-the-new-store kind of party. it’s more of a oh-my-goodness-I-can’t-believe-I-am-still-alive kind of party.
I know that most of you aren’t in the Liberty MO area, but if you are, I hope you will come by and celebrate with us. There will be food and drinks, not to mention a ton of prizes. And, of course, we will have some great sales as well.
If that isn’t enough incentive, the first 50 people to arrive will get a Quilting Is My Therapy bag filled with tons of goodies.
(Including goodies from C&T Publishing, Jaybird Quilts, Aurifil, American Patchwork & Quilting Magazine, Quilter’s dream Batting, Soak Wash, Wonderfil, and more!)
If you have some non-quilty friends that you need to keep occupied, there is a car show that day in the same area. As well as a lot of fun shops ….if fact, you could make a day of it.
For those of you that don’t live in the area, you can still celebrate with us. Stay tuned for some great deals on the Quilting Is My Therapy online store.
Ultimately though, I want to thank each and every one of you reading this post and for joining me on this crazy adventure. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t freaking out! But knowing that you are on this journey with me makes it a whole lot easier.
Happy Quilting!
I have enjoyed following your journey. You are down to earth and you don’t hold back when you teach. Thank you for showing me how be a better quilter.

You are a very talented creative person and I have no doubt your newest business will be very successful!! It was your style of quilting that taught me to accept what I was capable to doing at the time and it showed me to not expect perfection and to relax and enjoy and I will always thank you for that!!!
Hi Angela, I would absolutely love to come to your grand opening, but while my husband would jump on a plane today, finding any excuse to visit the US, I sadly live in the real world! But we will be planning a trip over from the UK in the future, and I’m sure it include Missouri this time!

Sure wish I lived close to Liberty. I would love to come to your party! Best of luck to you and thanks for all the encouragement you give through your videos and books.
Congrats Angela! You will be a most amazing success in this next phase of your quilting life, I just know it! Ahh, I did a little squeak when I saw the quilt in the window of your store: I was immediately transported back to Sarasota when I actually got to touch and pet and feel THAT QUILT, and soak up all things Angela with you during your talk and classes there that I still can’t believe I was able to partake in! All the best; wish I wasn’t quite so far away; otherwise I’d be there this coming Saturday…hmm wonder how much of a detour it would be to drive through Liberty on our way to Florida this winter?! 😉
This dream come true couldn’t be happening g to a nicer person. Wish I could be there for your grand opening but I will be out of town at a quilt retreat. I wil sure be by to see your shop as soon as I can though. Congratulations, Angela!!!
Was just at a quilt retreat in Rogersville, Mo. Would love to attend this weekend, but, it’s a little far from Texas. Don’t fret, it will be a great success! Congratulations!
Congratulations!! I am so happy for you! It has been a long, sometimes difficult journey for you but it will be worth it I am sure! If I ever find myself in your neck of the woods I will certainly stop by!!
Very cool! What a great ‘next step’ for your business. I wish you well!
I would SO love to attend your opening as it would simply be a dream come true for me, however seeing I’m in Mass. and just returned from the Viking Convention in Vegas, please know I’ll sure be thinking of you. I know your new shop will be a huge success!!! You GO girl!!!!

Congratulations! The awning looks wonderful with your very beautiful logo. Best wishes for continued success.
Congrats on the new space I love that you took on an old building and breathed new life into it. I so wish I could be there. My husband and I both grew up just outside of Liberty and our first apartment when we got married was on Franklin Street. Hope to make it up there soon to see your new venture. Again all my best wishes for continued success.
Congratulations! So glad to know you have a store now! This past summer, hubby and I stayed in Liberty on our way home from a vacation (having stopped in Hamilton). I will be sure to stop in on our next trip north. I love your newsletter/ blog. Keep up the good work and again …Congratulations!
Thank you for sharing your love of the art of machine quilting and for having such a down to earth perspective.
Congratulations on the new store from San Diego.

So excited for you Angela! My dil teaches in Liberty at William Jewell so some time I will be able to drop in! In fact although she doesn’t quilt she is always interested in local businesses as she teaches marketing. You may see her without me!
Good luck may God bless your new venture!
Wish I could be there but I have to work! Also missed your lecture at the KCMQG last Thursday for the same reason. I look forward to visiting your store when I get a chance. I’m seriously considering the HQ Avanté to start my own longarm quilting business 🙂
