In this week’s challenge, we are going to think “inside the blocks” and learn how to quilt different feather variations inside quilt blocks. Not only will you learn how to quilt several different kinds of feathers, I demonstrate how to do them on a sewing machine and a longarm.

Welcome to the fourth video of the Fabulous Feathers Free-motion Challenge Quilting Along. This week we are getting fancy with designs that are easier to quilt than they look. Feather Motifs add a custom look to your quilting and can be quilted in so many different ways. Let’s get started!

So far in the Fabulous Feathers Free-motion challenge, we have been quilting feathers in defined areas such as blocks. But not every quilt is going to have the perfect area for adding feathers. No worries! In this week’s challenge, we are going to learn 3 different ways to quilt feathers in irregularly shaped areas.

We know that feathers are gorgeous in all areas of quilts. But when I think about a traditional feather, I picture it in a border wrapping around the quilt. What a great way to highlight the center of the quilt! If we want to add that look to our quilts, we are going to have to learn how to quilt the feather around the border corner. In this week’s challenge, I am going to show you a few different options.
