One thing that I am constantly amazed at is the fact that this industry is full of so many talented, wonderful, and fun people. People like Molly Hanson. I met her at a show and we quickly became friends. She love machines quilting as much as I do, and I am so excited to help her brag about her book a little bit. It’s called Free-Motion Quilting for Beginners (and those who think they can’t).
Here on my blog, I encourage people to have fun machine quilting their quilts as well as give tips to improve their skills. I am assuming that the reader has a basic understanding of the free-motion quilting process. But what if you, or someone you know, doesn’t? What if you are just starting out with free-motion quilting?
That’s where this book comes in! Molly, in her easy-to-read way, walks you though the steps of free-motion quilting. But she does it in such a genius way. Instead of having you quilt samples to be set aside and never seen again, she shows you how to turn them into useable things. Now you can show off your awesome quilting to all your family and friends, even complete strangers at the store.
She starts off with words, which is something almost everyone can do right off the bat……then guides you through other designs and fun projects.
And, she even used some fabric from my Legacy collection to make this adorable dog bed…I want this doggie sooooo bad!!!
To learn more about Molly and her book check out her blog. Make sure to keep an eye on her, you may (hint, hint) see something from the two of us in the (not so distant) future.
Thank You!
On a side note, I want to take a moment to thank you for reading my blog. I don’t take the fact that you allow me into your quilting life lightly. There are so many resources available and I appreciate you sharing this journey with me! As a little thank you, here is a half-price link to my Small Changes, Big Variety class on Craftsy. Click here to take advantage of it.
Happy quilting!!
Do you need a special machine? I have a basic Bernina .
Nope!!! You just need a free-motion quilting foot that comes with most machines
Thank you for sharing Molly with us! This looks like a great tool to remove some of the fear of FMQ
You gave a wonderful review of the amazing book to help people overcome their fear of FMQ. I want that to be me. I am scared, but oh how I love the look of FMQ. Yes I wil learn.
Thank you for your review of Molly’s book. I have three of your books and they really helped me a lot.
I have one of your earlier books and it has really helped me. It looks like Molly’s book would also be a big help. Thanks for the review.
Hello! I have your book on back-order at Amazon and I’m so excited to receive it. Also, it would be so cool to win Molly’s book. I’m very new at fmq. I’ve always just stitched in the ditch or simple straight lines.
looks like another wonderful book for my collection and look forward to your collaborative project ! thanks so so much for the link to your craftsy class – its the only one of yours that I haven’t enrolled in yet -yay !!
I agree – that doggie is to die for! Anyway, hoping to learn to do the pebbles with a copy of her ebook.
Thanks for the link to your class! Signed up right away. I was planning on “giving” it to myself for Christmas, but on sale? Yeah, it’s now a Thanksgiving gift to me. Woohoo. Can’t wait to start. If I could have 1/100th of your talent, I’d be an even happier quilter. Again, THANKS!
What a fun book. Looks like I could learn something from that. Thanks for sharing.
Molly Hanson’s new book looks like a must have for all of us beginning free motion quilters. I especially like that she appears to be using a regular machine for her work and not a long arm. Long arm is not always as easy to transfer to machine with limited space.. Looking forward to see the book on the shelf somewhere to purchase.
Beautiful examples – they look intimidating but sounds like the book makes it easy.
Looks like a book I should have on my shelf.
It looks like a good book for the quilting library.
Having a hard time getting FMQ. This book looks like it offers some interesting approaches.
I am fairly new to FMQ and am a new SS16 owner. I am trying to learn as much as I can. Thanks for the opportunity and I LOVE your blog.
Looks like a great book!
Love your blog, Angela! Always looking forward to learning new things…
Thanks for the information on what’s inside the book. It looks like a good book to have.
I just recently picked up your book Shape by Shape. I love it. This one looks like a must add to my growing little library! Thank you.
This book sounds like great asset to have
I had your class on my Craftsy wishlist and was thrilled to see your offer, but the links did not work. Has the offer expired? I just got the Blog update notice.
Love all your work and especially appreciate the effort that goes into your books.
Cheryl
oops! I fixed it, sorry for the trouble.
Looks like this is a helpful and fun book.
Sounds like a wonderful book.
